In March of 2012 in advance of the much-anticipated premiere of The Avengers, the creative team at Ad-Dispatch began assembling assets for an app set to take in-store marketing to the next level. We teamed up with Marvel Entertainment and Walmart to deliver an interactive augmented reality (AR) marketing campaign.

My role in production was split between technical director of animation and director of graphical user interface (GUI) design. Animation responsibilities included producing the Hulk, Hawkeye and Black Widow AR character assets for first-person-shooter (FPS) gameplay. Character models and textures were based on style guides for the theatrical release, and optimized for mobile platforms.

Super Hero AR offers a retail strategy that connects mobile applications with traditional retail displays and delivery. It’s a game changer.


Studio software includes Adobe® Creative Cloud, Autodesk® Maya, Serif Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo; operated on Microsoft® Windows® 7 Professional with NVIDIA Quadro® and Intel® Core processing; and, powered by 80 Plus® Gold electric energy.
